hovercraft sketchSorry there’s been a bit of a delay in the next build. Some of the reason is that this bad boy is taking some time to perfect.

Also, rockets now have AI which lands them gracefully and dropping off things for you so you don’t have to worry about waiting for them and landing them manually anymore. They can also deliver enemy troops, and those guys try to use their jetpack to soften the landing, as well. That’s fortunate for them, because they will now gib if they hit something hard enough!

There’s numerous other improvements, like reloading mechanic, audio improvements (distance attenuation, more mixing chnnels), and a few other cool surprises.

Stay tuned, this weekend should be fun.

    sounds great. The transient spawn point will add an interesting twist to defense stratigies in the game.

    Hey guys, looking good. One question: with the automatic landing of rockets, will you still be able to pilot them manually if you choose? I tend to enjoy flying them over the terrain and torching the enemy before I land. :)

    Oh, totally. You can switch manual control to them at any time, just like before. And when you switch away, the AI will take over again and either land it and dump out if there’s anyhting inside, or fly of the top to get your refund.

    Will you fix the bug where some sounds stop playing? And will you try and implement my idea of an undead mode?

    Good to hear that enemies finally get dropships. Will they be landing perfectly or crashing headlong into the ground? The latter sounds like a good idea to me- have enemy robots bombarding the base with rockets and the like.

    If the enemy just crash into your base it would be totall chaos the rockets would go trough the concrete smasing your brain make it fall, it loses health a robot comes in trough one of the holes in your base and destroys your brain! Fun game!!! NOT…

    Reply to punisher and toonyman, you can control the rocket, you can switch to manual like data said. Stop your complaining,the game is amazing!!

    For the concrete, you can just edit it’s hardness in the materials file, if it’s that much of a problem. You just have to change one vaiable.

    I have a feeling my method of firing flame particles with negative speed to achieve a two-engine rocket is about to become obsolete.

    Er, if you want stronger concrete, just use a map like mine that has it modified to be really durable.

    Reply to LUKE-15, I just said that if the ENEMY rockets would just fall from the sky (The computer not controlling it) it would be chaos and the game would suck. But its not gona happend!!! So the game wont suck… Geezzzz….

    Reloading now starts automatically when you run out and press fire again, OR if you hold down inventory and press up. That way you can top off a half-full mag. This mechanic seems to work really well so far.

    Drunkman: Yes I have taken care to not invalidate any property names this time around. However, only mods that have completely separate .rte folders of their own will have a good chance of working 100%. In the official mod tutorial coming up, one of the key points is that a proper mod should never alter anything in the base.rte directory, and may only refer to stuff that is in there.

    Yeah, you can put everything in your own .rte, including scenes (maps).

    One question: if you buy an empty rocket, will it guide itself to the ground, open its doors, and then fly away again? Or will it guide itself down and then sit there? (me thinking it’d make more sense to do the latter, since if you’ve bought an empty rocket that means you want to use it for ramming or whatever)

    It lands, pukes out its contents, and lifts off.

    No, the LZ doesn’t change, but maybe we’ll add so the rockets try to avoid each otehr.

    Is it possible in next build to collect dead enemies weapons, put them to a rocket and sell them? Will own clones be more active like shoot the bad guys than just standing around “Oh, i have a testicle…. oh wait i don’t, that guy shot it”. I think i have seen them shoot a couple of times but not that goodly.

    Damnit, just before me and FF get impact explosions for the current version! Nice stuff, the next release of the Star Wars Mod should have a lot of fun things, new actors, ships, weapons, and maps.

    Will the player be able to fly that new craft was well as the original? And can we now have more than one soldier in the rocket?… whenever I have more than one person in the ship, they explode into a bloody gibby mess when they eject. That’s entertaining for a while, but is it fixed now?

    data, i looked at the official forum and it says that the enemy will get to fly the ship. Will the human player get to fly it to. AAaaAAaaaAAnd, when will it be out? thank yous!

    im not a veteran at this game, by any stretch of the imagination, but ive noticed that even on easy, its pretty hard to defend your brain, while your digging.
    is there any chance that you could put, i dont know, a maze-like thing in before the brain, so at least they dont have a clear shot at you?
    even with guys in there, they just sit and pop a few rounds off before they go “oh, i perish”

    to James: you can have several characters onscreen at once. you’ll just have to switch back and forth to check up on your brain. you can also block the entrance to your brain with the rocket!

    You don’t really need a maze-like thing, you just need to spend a little money on excess rockets. Use the one in your base to take off and plug-up the ceiling and then park another one by the back door but leaning towards it so that it forms a ramp to above your back door. Then all you need to worry about is those sods pacing a hole in the roof of your brain chamber, and even then a holes and rockets will help out.

    I was on http://www.fun-motion.com, and i saw the ship thing and i was like, I hope this is free… then it was, this is the greatest game ever… as good as HL2, Like online co-op, and DM would be nice, at first this game is so confusing but i get it now lol….

    note: sorry about last comment i had just eaten five fudge pops and i was hyper. p.s. is there a way to save the position of guys. i had a setup where there was 3 levels the top level, 1rst underground tunnel, second underground tunnel. on those two posts i had two century guardon each one with ak-47s. directly under them was the only way to my tunnels. i had guys
    all over in those tunnels. my base was quite literally filled with cement except in my brain room where five robots waited with shotguns. at the corners of my base waited two clones with long cannons. and due to the fact you can travel around the world in three jumps as soon as a enemy fell. he was dead and missing a head. but then after an hour of waiting for something to happen. i gave up. but just to make this even more long id like to post the fact that this was done on hard mode. so this is one big p.s. bye

    You can add guys to the scenes’ initial state in the base.rte/scenes.ini file.

    one thing i find anouying is whatever player your not controlling… is pritty much a big hung of blood…. i think there needs to be something where you other players can atleast defend there sealvs…. ad atleast walk…. thou… lol…. its sort of funny to see them get crushed by a ship….. p.s. sorry for the spelling

    also i think it should be compatable with mac… i have 2 windows comps, and one mac… i would like to beable to play it on all of them…
