We are proud to report that Cortex Command was chosen to be the inaugural game on IndieGames.com’s new Game of the Month feature! Head over to the feature page for some juicy new concept art and explanations of the game’s setting and story:

In other news: Sorry there has been a bit of a gap in updates and activity. There were a series of IRL distractions, but we are back on track and the exciting times will definitely be picking up again!

    I have to agree with Predator King….We have been waiting TWO MONTHS. And what do we get? A tiny amount of story, And some new pics. We should be getting that EVERY WEEK. We PAID for this…The least we deserve is to know how the game is coming along. How hard is it to write up an update every week. It only takes, What, 20 Minutes, Half an hour? I expected more.

    Like Byp4ss says, this isn’t a mandatory thing, Data decided t o make this so we could have small updates. He could simply choose to release the updates whenever he feels like it, with no prior warnings or teasers about what it will be about. So shut the hell up, and be glad that it wasn’t three months you had to wait.

    Predator King, Orindell, and lmsyhmic: you did NOT pay for regular updates, or even the promise of a completed game. This is why you paid a discounted price ($18) instead of what the full game will cost IF and WHEN it is completed ($38). This is clearly stated on the in the web store before you check out.

    Please understand that we are working on this project as our real world lives allow. When there’s only one guy programming and one guy doing art, a holdup or distraction on either side can cause the entire production to halt.

    I already apologized in the post for the gap in updates. If you can’t handle the wait, just sign up for the mailing list and forget about it until you get an email announcing a new version.

    I think you are forgetting what’s in OUR build data… hahaha

    …there are only 2 editors (scene&gib, actor VIEWER not editor), doors won’t work if placed in scene editor mode and the editors try to place things in a file you have to manually create.

    Glad to hear that production will be picking back up, and glad to have a bit more story info.

    So, will the next build have any more missions? One “attack the enemy base” mission where the enemy doesn’t have a fixed amount of troops (see: current mission) would make the wait worth it.

    Meh, I’m mostly looking forward to whatever extra features/modding capabilities Data adds into the game. Every time Data adds something with additional functionality in it, a whole pile of mods pop up using that functionality… always good.

    I’d like to get some fairly low-work (so far as I know) game features, like the ability to pick a faction at the beggining of the game. Even if something like this did not agree with the campaign, it could be limited to skirmish mode, and the stock Trade Star units could be a faction of their own.

    Data I did pay the special support price, because I want to support Data Realms, Hoping to see a bit more devotion and at least a serious devoted website, maybe some improvement in the general presentation.

    Honestly I’m let down in the lack of updates, it’s simple enough to write a couple words as a gesture of appreciation to your supporters. Maybe it’s time to find a volunteer to post info on the game if it’s too much for 1-2 people.

All I want is slightly more frequent updates. Even just small things. Data is obviously working hard on this game, As it is his only job. All I want is a small, Three sentence status report. A small bit of info here and there. Maybe answer some of the many questions. Its not that hard. It would only take, What ten minutes?

    Hiro, I am going to be blunt. CC is, Pretty much, Data’s life. At least its one of three main focus points of his life. Its his dream to make the game, And making happens to be his FULL TIME job. As in, His entire life is supported by the income from the game. And I do understand that Data had distractions in real life. But its really not hard at all to post a short update every two weeks or so. Oh, And I admit…It was stupid of me to call you retarded. I apologize. And my life is not taken up with Cortex Command, I just check the Dev-Log every week or so to see if there has been any updates…Of course, There pretty much never are. And while I cant, Of course, Force Data to update, It would be kind of him to update. Just a nice thing to do, To keep the 50% of the people on DRL that like knowinghow the game is coming.

    And once more, because you just don’t get it:
    He didn’t update because of REAL LIFE distractions, not because he was neglecting his little childrenz. This means that he did not have anything to give you updates on. Ergo: he did not post on the Devlog.

    And again: it may be a large percent of his income, but his job
    IS
    NOT
    GIVING
    UPDATES.
    You paid for: One (1) serial key with which to activate one (1) copy of Cortex Command. Nothing more. You acknowledged and agreed to the fact that Data might not finish the game when you purchased it, which is why there is a discount.

    As for flame fueled rants, personally I find them much less annoying than things like

    In fact, just read post #29 by Data if you still don’t understand what you paid for.
    So there are all the facts. Feel free to try your hardest to search for more reasons to complain about lack of updates. If you’re really obsessed enough to want updates so badly, you should have plenty of time to lurk in the IRC chat and scavenge bits of useless info.
