First Loading on MacChris is doing a great job with the porting, and has made lots of progress. The code now builds and runs on Mac OSX, but there’s still some issues to iron out… (lack of RMB!%@#)

Sorry for the sparse updates lately, but rest assured things are moving along on several fronts: We are almost done building a new licensing system which will make things a lot more easy and flexible for you guys. We just need to integrate it and test it thoroughly before putting it out there. Another front is the mac porting mentioned above.

On the actual game side of Cortex Command, a few big under-the-hood hurdles have been completed. There’s a new memory management system which makes things run faster and more reliably. Also the Lua interface has been improved and made a lot easier to work with. Now you can create new instances of any Entity by simply doing something like this in the console or script file:

myActor = CreateActor("Soldier Light");
myWeapon = CreateHDFirearm("Pistol");
myActor:AddToInventory(myWeapon);
-- This adds the new Actor to the scene, so he actually appears
MovableMan:AddActor(myActor);

    1: He doesn’t HAVE employees.
    2: We’ve waited this long, we can wait a couple days/weeks (please let it be days)
    3: He gave a release date on an older build, but was unable to meet it. There was a HUGE uproar. I think is good with just hinting.

    ” (lack of RMB!%@#) ”

    Ahum, Mac does have a right mouse function, it’s just not on the mouse. It’s something like alt + mouse click or something.

  24. EEE - # August 29th, 2008 at 11:51 pm

    No RMB in os X? Are you fucking serious? mighty mouse has RMB

  25. EEE - # August 29th, 2008 at 11:53 pm

    REQUIRED IRON,
    it IS ON THE MOUSE. you may need to turn rmb in system preferences (mighty mouse only), but also you may use ANY mouse you want without problems.

  26. Chamyky - # September 6th, 2008 at 7:27 am

    Well, I’m a bit late here but Mac OS supports right mouse button since only… 1984.
    Apple never shipped two-buttons mice because of the confusing effect it had for newcomers (the “right or left?” problem is pretty frequent, really). That’s why people think that Mac OS don’t support two-buttons mice. And, recently Apple started selling two-buttons mice because they’re now able to design two buttons that look like only one (so it isn’t confusing for users).
    There are so much myths on the Mac…

  27. pdavda - # October 4th, 2008 at 2:26 am

    The right click is (on mac) apple key and click

  28. Juliana - # March 1st, 2009 at 4:00 pm

  29. Luke Alexander - # September 23rd, 2009 at 11:29 am

    Still, this is a great news most especially to MAC OS users πŸ™‚
