Ah, and there are far many more viruses than you think, Hiro, it's just that they are very, very rare. I'll give you that.

I just put together a PC with slightly better specs than the $1200 iMac. It included the monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, case, and all that. It had almost the exact same hardware (I couldn't find the exact Radeon that Apple put into the iMac, but i found an equivalent [Visiontek Radeon 9250 Video Card - 128MB DDR, PCI, DMS-59, Low Profile, Video Card]. Oh, and it has a 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo instead of 2.0.
And how much does it cost? $909.02, including shipping. That's almost a $300 price difference. With XP, that would be an extra $99, or $50 if you know where to look.
Oh, and the mouse had seven buttons. And a little wheel. ;)

There is no "probably" here. PC are cheaper. Even with better hardware.

Also- Mac Minis are so cheap because they have no monitor, mouse, or keyboard. A 20" LCD could go up into the $300 (higher, if you're a feature creep). They also have virtually no video memory (64MB >SHARED

wow, but can we be getting back on topic? going through all that to find something about the game is exhausting my eyes. (hint hint) People the dev log is for the GAME not about macs. ok so what but Mr. dev log wants stuff about the um whats the word im looking for? oh yeah, GAME! btw (off topic) my IQ is about the level of a collage professor in America. (13.2 years old) ( i know this is spam but i cant resist. im sorry) but please stay on topic instead of going off onto YET another topic unrelated to the dev log. so please less talk bout the different operating systems and IQ and more about things like the game play.

Waitt... a correction. My brother's isn't a core 2 duo. However, it is a dual core. :P

I got mine confused with his. I'm running on an AMD 64 X2, which I did buy along with the rest of my computer (which is probably better than that mac) for a far higher price (1200$, including tax.)... This was mostly the cost of expediency, though, as I bought it as a package from Dell, along with a 2-year warranty, a very good monitor, and some other stuff.

My computer as a mac would, I think, be 1800$, excluding tax.

My brother has an Intel Core 2 Duo in his computer, running at 2.33 ghz. It also has a 256 mb graphics card, and 2 gigs of ram. This was 700$ Canadian. The only problem was that it came with no operating system; no problem, he installed the copy of XP that came with his laptop.

However, they neither mentioned the video card nor ram of that mac, and didn't even bother to put up which core 2 duo it is. It'd probably run like a dog compared to my brother's machine, at 100$ less.

The mac's advantage is running out of the box; hence making it better for the computer illiterate.

Vista has a checkbox hidden deep within it's musty interiors; uncheck this, and it stops asking you 3 times for everything you do. Vista is almost (not really) half decent after this; it also gets rid of many of the stupid administrator "features" present.

Silly=lots of bells and whistles and a one button mouse for the reason of having a one button mouse. It's like removing half your brain so as to be special. Sure, it can be replaced, but it irks me nonetheless. All of the shiniehness of the mac OS annoys me as well, though this may be from using old versions of windows for most of my life.

People who know how to use a computer can appreciate a mac, but the PC has many advantages. If you have a deep pocketbook, fine, go for a mac, otherwise use a PC in my opinion.

All of those popularity things for CC prove mah point: CC doesn't need Steam, and the number of people playing can only go up after the commercial release. Keeping of a diluted free version of the game may even help popularity. Many other game projects have done it, and it seems to help... Though it is Data's choice as to how he markets it.

"they cost at least one and a half times the price of competing PCs"

*Cough*

http://www.apple.com/macmini/

Live the digital life in stylish simplicity — up to 39% faster.1 Just 6.5 inches square and 2 inches small, Mac mini lets you have more fun with your music, photos, and movies, more quickly and more easily. Enjoy them up close or far away with the included Apple Remote. The most affordable way to Intel Core 2 Duo, iLife ’08, and Front Row starts at $599.

Yes, read it. Intel Core 2 Duo. $599.

You misunderstand. They're not useful for computer illiterates, they're useful for people who want an easy interface that doesn't ask you to reconfirm 3 times if you want to throw something out. Huge diff.
Define "Silly."

And if you want popularity for CC

Infantessimal or infantesmal is a word... And hard to spell. It means very small, I.E. infantessimal chances of something means "not likely to happen".

Personally, I dislike macs, as they cost at least one and a half times the price of competing PCs, and they are less flexible. They're useful if you know little about computers, but the operating system just seems silly to me.

It is an audience though, and should be allowed to give data money. :P

Most of the games that end up on Steam either go there because they are indie, and it is the best option, or because they have failed to sell in other markets or have stopped selling. Cortex Command does not seem to stand to benefit from Steam, as there is already a community waiting to buy it, making an existing viable option to steam. The number of cortex command fans could grow dramatically after release, especially if Data allows for more customizablility and modability for the commercial builds.

So, Data doesn't really need Steam to do his marketing for him, as it would probably not yield much better results than a homegrown or alternative effort.

Infinitesimal

And the only virus known for mac is one that you have to get an unknown email and be retarded enough to download its attachment.
Apple's Fatality is that it's virus proof unless you're an idiot.

EA realized it pretty fast, and swiftly put out battlefield 2142, C&C 3, and NFS carbon. Then it goes rotten. Along with these, they defecated out a retarded harry potter game and a frickin' GOLF GAME (yay golf, golf is still cool right? right? EVERYONE LOVES GOLF!!)

Believe me it's been so painful having to run CC on virtual pc off of a downloaded XP SP2 OS that expired in 30 days...
literally 1 to 7 frames per second. And I still enjoyed it, that's how great CC is.

"Companies" realize things rather quickly, Hiro. They wouldn't miss out on such a large market that easily. It's actually the structure of the OS that makes it hard to port games to it. I agree that switching processors to Intel does help... just not enough. And Macs DO get viruses. It's just a ridiculously infantismal amount compared to the PC.
...And Now For Something Completely Different...
Is infantismal a word? Andy what's up with that "FATALITY" ?

Damnit, now I', getting into a PC vs. Mac discussion.
I do hope it does get ported, though. Then all those Mac-using infidels could taste the awesomeness of Cortex Command! (Now can you guess which OS I support?)
