Post Help with windows (not the operating system)
Hello wonderful denizens of Data Realms. I noticed recently that the bunker modules were missing some windows so I made some. They should look like this:
fg:Image
bg:Image

Instead they look like this:

Can somebody please help me with this small error? I believe it's just a palette error, but no matter how hard I try to get the base.rte palette to work it just shows up like so.

P.S.:If you contribute something worthwhile to this I'll be sure to credit you upon release of this mod

Your problem is the sprites.

Make sure the FG and BG are in palette. I assume you know how to do this, but just to clarify, open palette.bmp with mspaint, paste your sprite, crop the edges, and save under a new name in a location within the mod's .rte file.

And your MAT, make sure that's a 24 bit image. Open another bunker module MAT, paste in your FG, and then replace the sprite colors with material colors; and I'm guessing you'll be wanting metal, which is the lighter gray on the vanilla bunker module MATs, and glass, the correlating color of which you'll find in materials.ini. Keep the MAT the same shape as the FG.

If you can't fix it now, upload it so we can take a look.

Actually, the MAT has it's own palette. Take any MAT file in Base.rte and use that to fix the palette. Only for the MAT file, though.

thanks for the help it works now, and you can expect to see the complete window mod in a day or two depending on how much time I have while writing my term paper. :P
ImageThe glass might be a little thick as it doesn't shatter when shot, but would you really want to be in the middle of a war zone and not have bullet-proof glass on your bunkers? There will also be a sky light and floor light (I guess for four way symmetry)

Bunkermodules don't gib.
It's a shame that there's no way to have a window that obstructs everything but your sharpaim distance.

Bunkermodules could gib if you did them right.

I.e. AddChildObject windows.

Well I finished making the three windows, that I'm going to release, last night. But I have one more question. When you're posting a mod how do you make the nice looking little attachments box? I really just found out about Cortex a few months ago so sorry for being noobish.

When posting a thread/post scroll down and you'll see some fields with a browse button, click the browse button, find your mod and wait for it to upload.
You may have to press 'Add file'.

Like the idea, it reminds me of apocalypse towers.
