So I tried to play a game of Cortex Command between two computers in my Local Network, using the Remote Assistance feature on Windows XP.

This video was recorded in the Remote Assistance Screen on the controlling computer.

TopScreen:
Me
Controlling Computer
Using Main Keyboard Controls

Bottom Screen:
The other guy
The Controlled Computer
Using Alternative Keyboard Controls (Numpad)

This video was NOT sped up at all.
We played this in Real Time.

If Online matches aren't feasible, at least Local network matches are.

And if You guys want to know how I set it up (with the remote assistance and all that), ask.

But, if there are local games, then how about hamachi? Could you try it?

You don't need Hamachi.

You only need Remote Desktop/Remote Assistance. (They come with windows)

I can't test because of lack of manned distance computers.

Awesome. Now we just need a way to have each player have a full screen...

Hm.........
I think I managed to figure it out.

1. Have 4 screens, 2 per computer.
2. Make 1 screen the left half and the other screen the right half.
3. Make horizontal splitscreen.
4. Do whatever zalo did.
5. Focus your eyes on your screen (You can turn off 1 set of moniters and focus on the other computer's screen(S) to save power.)

You can't do horizontal splitscreen. Before you say theirs an option in Settings.ini, that doesn't work.

This is unlikely to work online unless someone has absurdly high upward bandwidth. I'm actually willing to try this with someone I trust (meaning no one on the forum), as I have epic FiOS upload.

I'll post if I do try it out, with some results.

The Recipient doesn't even need to have CC on his computer!

Ok, here's how it goes...

1. Host Computer makes a remote assistance invitation.
A. Start -> All Programs -> Remote Assistance
B. Save Invitation As File ( Unless you want to use MSN or Outlook)
C. Fill it Out. Then Save the file to a place where you can find it.

2. Host Computer Emails Invite to Recipient.

3. When Recipient activates Remote Desktop, Host Accepts it.

4. Host then starts up CC in WINDOWED MODE!

5. Host Starts up a skirmish game.

6. Recipient Asks for control (Top left corner button) and Host Accepts

7. Recipient uses control style he wants, Host uses any control style he wants As long as NEITHER OF THEM USE ANY OF THE SAME KEYS/BUTTONS! (For Example, I used main classic Keyboard buttons(WASD), and he used Numpad.(Up,Down,Left.Right))

Congrats.

Indeed. Multiplayer CC is possible, just the remote end has to deal with heavy lag (no client side code whatsoever).

And, of course, to play with both computers full version, you need two copies, full version. Although... you probably can have two instances of the game up at once, in which case, since you're already on a LAN connection, you'd just need to run the same .exe through the network.

Tim, it's all remote. Only one copy of CC is ever opened, the receiving end is only watching the host's screen and contributing keyboard input.

Ok, seriously, i nearly wet my pants. This opens up nice possibilities (Correct me if i'm wrong though),
and a lot of space too. Two humans playing on the same keyboard (Which happens to
be in a corner) does not leave a whole lot of space to spare. I really ought to try this myself...

Also, if i'm not entirely wrong, remote control can be done over the 'net, but alas, it's slow and laggy.
Depending on the latency, it may/may not be worth trying.
