The old workaround of using an external server to host large avatars is no longer valid. The avatar that I have now is 700 kbs. <----- And yet, we're only allowed 40. The only reason I was able to get this avatar on here was because we could simply image-link to the other server rather then have it be on this one at all. Now it's here or nowhere. ._. |

Wait. So, you're...complaining, to the forum, that the loophole that was probably deliberately removed...was removed. See the point of a filesize limit on avatars is to cut down on page loading times. If a workaround to that stops working, it's not something you complain about. |

I thought the point was to save on server bandwidth, considering the number of times avatars are loaded. A 400 KB avatar, which is a bit over half of what mine currently is (on an external server, = 0 MB of bandwidth) if it were on this server: 400 KB avatar x my 500 posts = 195 MB of bandwidth And our current limit? 40 KB avatar x my 500 posts = 19.5 MB of bandwidth Which is why I thought large ones used to be okay if on an external server. |
