If you want to keep using all your current programs, there's not much point in switching.

WINE will allow you to run some EXEs. As for MP3s, Amarok and Exaile are good.

Go back to Windows.
Seriously, listen, it's not worth the trouble since... you know, I think you're lacking the, erm, experience to know things like... aptget and the command line...
Frankly, I don't think you're bright enough.

I think you need to ask yourself if its worth switching to linux. If you have to get help with questions like that--its not worth it.

Im not questioning skills, I'm questioning your need. Why do you need to move to linux? You obviously already own a copy of windows. Why migrate if you dont need to. Its a hassle, as much as I love unix-like systems.

Keyword: WINDOWS.

You're not experiened with Unix systems in any way whatsoever. Taking the time and effort to learn to do so would have little reward for the casual user.

Thor's right, there's really no point.

Your entire reason for adding an entire seperate operating system is ease of programming? Once again, unless you actually do already know all Linux console commands, are experienced with the operating system, and know how to get it to compile what you want when you want, it's not going to do you any good.

Post Re: Switching to Linux
My advice: Don't switch. Linux can be a lot of fun to play with, and if I could have it my way, I would switch. Unfortunately, the world is too Windows-centric, so I use Windows.

That doesn't mean you can't dual boot, which is what a lot of casual Linux users do. Unless you have a real need to completely switch (which it sounds like you don't), don't bother.
